Bangladesh national football team will begin their practice for the joint Asia Cup and World Cup 2022 qualifying round (second phase) from August 23 under the supervision of national team’s head coach Jamie Day who returned to Dhaka after spending a long leave.
National Team Management Committee (NTMC) had meeting yesterday with the chairman Kazi Nabil Ahmed, coach Jamie Day and the members of the committee.
Bangladesh will play their first match against Afghanistan on September 10 at a neutral venue in Tajikistan. The team will leave Dhaka for Dushanbe on September 1.
Jamie Day, who on leave for last two months, said he will get about two weeks for preparation of the matches. “It is enough time to take preparation to play against any team. All the players got time to recover and the players of Abahani team are on playing.”
“I want to win every match, but all the opponents are higher ranked than us, Oman India all are stronger sides and Afghanistan are also a strong team but we will also fight,” said Jamie.
About the team he announced said, “It is a combination of youth and experienced team, whom did I thought is good I call him. I have been watching them for last 14 months, and I choose 25 players.”
“As we will have to play on Astroturf in Tajikistan, so we will practice on same pitch at the Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium, Kamalapur.
