The National Mourning Day and 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed in the Bangladesh missions abroad in befitting manners with due solemnity.
Bangladeshi embassies in Hague, Washington D.C., Tashkent, Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York, Bangladesh High Commissions in London, Singapore and Canberra and Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata chalked out elaborate programmes on the day. Permanent mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York also arranged special programmes aiming to pay tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The programmes included wearing of black badges by the members of staff of the mission, hoisting of the national flag at half-mast, reading out the messages of the President, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister, placing wreaths at the portraits of Bangabandhu, standing one minute silence to pay homage to Bangabandhu, holding discussion, screening of documentary on Bangabandhu, blood donation, charity programmes, offering special prayers, milad-mahfil and doa-munajat.
