Bangladesh to face Afghanistan at neutral venue in Tajikistan

Finally AFC announced the home venue of Afghanistan match against Bangladesh of the upcoming World Cup 2022 qualifying match scheduled to take place at the Republican Central Stadium, Dushanbe, Tajikistan on September 10 (a neutral venue).

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced  all the venues of the World Cup qualifiers almost early of August but the Afghanistan home venue, as it requested Afghanistan to decide their home venue within a few days.  

Despite the AFC gave them the time line by July 31 to choice their home venue and to send the name to AFC, but the war disaster country making delay for more than a week to disclose their choice and finally named their home venue the Republican Central Stadium, Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh will begin their campaign of the Qatar 2022 qualification phase with taking on Afghanistan on September 10 and will play the second match against India on October15 at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.    

It was mostly discussed last week that Afghanistan will choice Qatar as their home venue and Bangladesh also had plan to have their conditional camp in Qatar a week before the match.

But as Afghanistan decided to play their home matches in Tajikistan, Bangladesh team’s head coach Jamie Day also changed his plan to have conditional camp when the British coach desired to have the camp in Tajikistan.

Jamie Day wants to have the conditional camp in Tajikistan at least 10 days before the match to be played in the capital of Tajikistan.

Meanwhile, coach Jamie Day who is on a long leave, will return Bangladesh by August 18 and will start the camp from next day.  

 UNDER-15 Team

Bangladesh Under-15 national football team are in tight schedule with practice programme for their coming SAFF football tournament, as they did not have the Eid vacation and celebrated the religious festival at the camp  at BFF academy in Barayed, Forties Group ground in the capital.

The boys enjoyed the day with performing the Eid prayers at BFF Astroturf ground while BFF provided them Eid dress and also managed Qurbani for them at the training camp when the coaches also joined with them in the celebration.

However, Bangladesh will play their first match against Bhutan on August 23 to be held at Kalyani Stadium, India, second match on August 25 against Sri Lanka, third match against Nepal on August 27 and will take on the hosts India in the last group leg match on August 29.

The team expected to leave Dhaka for Kalyani, nearby Kolkata, India.         

Meanwhile, the draw of the tournament was held in Dhaka last week at the Bangladesh Football Federation Bhaban (BFF).

Top two teams of the points table will move into the final.

In a bid to keep the trophy, the defending champions began their practice early of this year under three English coaches.
