‘Srabon Tragedy’ at Officers’ Club today

Marking the 44th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Officers Club has arranged a commemorative programme today at Officers’ Club in Baily Road of the capital. As a part of the programme, theatre troupe Mohakal Natya Sampraday will stage its 40th production ‘Srabon Tragedy’, based on the tragic assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman today.

Written by Ann Zaman, associate professor of Jahangirnagar University’s Drama and Dramatics Department, the play ‘Srabon Tragedy’ is planned and directed by Ashique Rahman Leon, assistant professor of the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies of Dhaka University.

The drama is patronised by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and different government and non-government organisations to pay tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

‘Srabon Tragedy’, a research-based performance, is the depiction of the tragic assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members while the play focuses on Bangabandhu’s participation in different movements.
