Career fair from tomorrow at BRACU
BSS, Dhaka

More than 100 public and private organisations including multi-national companies, corporate entities, development and government organizations will join together to hunt new employees at a two-day career fair to be held from tomorrow in the capital. The BRAC University is going to organise the ”NRB Jobs Presents National Career Fair-2019” under the theme of “Campus to Corporate” from June 27 to 28 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) here.
The objective of the fair is to provide a platform to all graduating and already graduated students from both public and private universities and colleges to connect with the country’s leading employers from different sectors and match their career of interest.
This was revealed yesterday at a press conference organised by the BRAC University at Jatiya press club here. BRAC University student affairs director Dilara Afroz Khan Rupa, Registrar Lt Col (retd) Md Foyzul Islam, and NRB Jobs BD Managing Director and CEO Mahbube Elahi Chowdhury spoke at the briefing, among others.
They said the fair will help potential jobseekers and employers to interact and eliminate the gap between their academic understanding and the expectations from the job market.


Cumilla University unveils Tk 42cr budget
UNB, Cumilla

Cumilla University has announced a Tk 42.17 crore budget for 2019-20 fiscal year. Kamal Uddin Bhuiyan, in-charge of Office of the Director of Accounts & Finance, placed the budget before the 73rd syndicate meeting held at the administrative building on Monday with Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Emran Kabir Chowdhury in the chair.
Earlier, the Finance Committee approved the proposed budget on June 19.
In the proposed budget, Tk 26.80 crore has been allocated for salaries and allowances of teachers and employees which is 63.6 percent of the total budget.
An allocation of only Tk 1 crore or 2.3 per cent has been kept aside for research activities.
The university will get Tk 7 crore from internal sources while Tk 34.54 crore will be sanctioned by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
In 2018-19 fiscal year, the total initial budget outlay of the university was Tk 38.17 crore. Later, it was revised to Tk 39.8 crore.


SUST places Tk 139.73 crore budget
BSS, Dhaka

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) yesterday placed a budget of Taka 139 crore and 73 lakh for the fiscal year 2019-20.
Vice-chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed announced the budget at a press conference held at the conference room of Administrative Building on the campus.
University treasurer Anwarul Islam and director for account Zaynal Abedin, among others, attended the press conference.
The budget is around 38 per cent larger compeer to previous year budget of 2018-19 fiscal.
The amount of the outgoing fiscal year budget was Taka 133.96 crore.
