Parents urged to be more conscious for children’s health

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam today urged the parents to be more conscious about the health of their children. “The national Vitamin -A Plus campaign is a part of the various projects, which have been implemented by the government to ensure proper physical growth and mental development of the children”, Atiqul said while inaugurating the campaign at Mohammadpur Fertility Services and Training Centre (MFSTC) here this morning.

Atiqul administered vitamin- A capsule to some children aged between 5-59 months and asked their parents to become more conscious about their health.  “Vitamin- A is crucial to prevent childhood blindness, promote growth and building healthy eyesight as it increases immunity, he added.

Our Staff Reporter adds from Chattogram: Nearly 13 lakh children under five years of age were administered vitamin 'A' Plus capsules yesterday in Chattogram as part of National Vitamin 'A' plus campaign-19. The campaign began yesterday from 8am and continued uninterruptedly till 4pm.

Chattogram City Corporation distributed vitamin ‘A’ Capsules at 1,288 centres to 5.5lakh children 6 months to 59 months of age children at 41 wards in the city while Civil Surgeons’ office distributed vitamin ‘A’ capsules to 7,58,242 Children in 14 upazilas in Chattogram district.

Civil Surgeon Dr Azizur Rahman Siddiqui said that vitamin ‘A’ plus Campaign has started spontaneously. We are trying to feed vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules to all children.

 Staff Reporter adds from Barishal: National Vitamin-A Plus campaign was observed in the city yesterday aiming to feed vitamin-A Plus capsules to 3,06,959 children in the district and 45,700 children in the City Corporation aged between six months to 59 months to prevent childhood blindness and reduce child mortality.

BCC Mayor Serniabat Sadik Abdullah inaugurated the programme at Bangabandhu Colony Centre of the city yesterday morning.  A total of 11,397 staff and 1,850 volunteers in 2,255 centers in 30 wards of city corporation and 10 upazilas, 85 unions, 255 wards in the district  worked to make vitamin 'A' plus Campaign-2019 a success.

Dr Monoar Hosen, district civil surgeon Barishal and Dr Matiur Rahman, chief health officer of Barishal City Corporation , said they achieved 98 per cent success in the programme.
