Young Bangladeshi model Tangia Zaman Methila has been awarded with ‘Model Star of Bangladesh’ in this year’s ‘Asia Model Festival’. With the participation of models from 25 countries of the Asia continent, the festival took place at the Olympic Hall in Seoul, South Korea on Sunday.

However, this is for the first time that Methila and four other models from Bangladesh participated in this contest.

Asia Model Festival organizing committee chairman Yang Eui-Sig handed over the award to Methila at the award giving ceremony.

Methila, who is scheduled to return to the country today, expressed her joy over the telephone from South Korea, “It was a very proud moment for me to represent my country as a Bangladeshi model among the 25 countries in the Asia continent. I am very happy and feel honoured for this achievement.”

Methila started her journey in the modelling industry six years ago. She first appeared as a model in ‘Dhaka Fashion Week’ with the support of choreographer and fashion designer Mahmudul Hasan Mukul. Later, she appeared in the big fashion events like ‘Bangladesh Fashion Week’, ‘Rina Latif’, ‘Denim Expo’ and ’40 Year Celebration of Aarong’ and earned accolades.

Methila performed as a model in a number of television commercials (TVC), including a TVC of Grameenphone directed by Piplu. On the other hand, she appeared in her first tele-drama titled ‘Familiar Enemy’ opposite actor Siam under the direction of Taneem Rahman Angshu. Later, she acted in same director’s ‘Kopa Shamsu’ and ‘Air Bender’, among other tele-dramas.
