Digital map on 1971 genocide in Satkhira published

BSS, Satkhira

A digital map on 1971 genocide in Satkhira was published on Monday aiming to project barbarism carried out by Pakistani occupation force drug the War of Liberation.

Genocide Repression Archive and Museum has lunched the survey to identify the mass killing fields and torture camps of the Pakistani force.

Chowdhury Shahid Quader, director (administration) of Genocide Repression and Liberation War Research Centre in Khulna told BSS that digital map is being prepared using modern GPS devices.

Mass killing grounds were clearly marked in the digital map so that anyone from any corner in the world can visit those sites online to know information on genocide and extent of atrocity, he said.

“The works of preparing the digital map on genocide were carried out in a limited scale across the world. But Bangladesh is preparing the such map in a large scale,” Quader said.

As part of the countrywide initiative, digital map on 1971 genocide of Satkhira district was published and maps of other districts in Khulna division will be published in phases.
