World cricketers strongly deplore Colombo bomb attacks

SPORTS REPORTER, DHAKA

The current and formers cricketers worldwide have strongly denounced the coordinated bomb attacks at hotel and church in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday that killed so far 290 local and foreign nationals including Bangladeshi national coupled with more than 500 injured.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s cousin and Bangladesh Awami League presidium member Sheikh Salim’s grandson Jayan Chwodhury was killed. Salem’s son-in-law Moshiul Chowdhury injured. They went to visit in Sri Lanka on vacation.

Following the brazen attack, Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmuddulah Riyad tweeted, condemning the deadly attack with a hashtag, #PrayForSriLanka.

“It has left me numb after hearing of so many deaths due to bomb blasts in various parts of Sri Lanka. Such brutal acts has no place in this world, and will not replace our sense of love and humanity,” Tamim Iqbal wrote on his Twitter account.

Mushfiqur Rahim wrote on his Twitter comment, “This is just ridiculous...Doesn’t want to hear this kind of news anymore...my deepest sympathy to all the people and family...is there any place in the world is safe ???.”

“Shocked and saddened by the news of Sri Lanka. This pain is really unbearable. My prayers and thoughts with the people who have been affected by the incident,” Mahmudullah Riyad added.
