5 to die for murder in Bogura

A court in Bogura on Thursday awarded death sentence to five persons for killing Army man Eashin Ali Molla.
District and Sessions Judge Naresh Chandro Sarkar today passed the order and also fined them Tk 20,000 each.
The judge also acquitted 10 accused of the case as the charges brought against them could not be proved.
The convicted persons are Easmail Hossain and Abdur Rahim , sons of Ramzan Ali, Mamun and Julfikar Ali Tutul ,sons of Easmail Hossain and Sirajul Islam , son of Moyez Molla. In the same case, the court also awarded imprisonment to four other persons on different terms on charge of assaulting witnesses.
During the pronouncement of the verdict, all of the accused except the two convicts were present.
According to the case, Eashin Ali Molla was killed on June 17, 2006 in an attack at Badadurpur village in Bagura’s Gabtoli. The victim’s wife filed a case with the local thana on the same day accusing a total of19 persons for the murder of her husband. Investigative officer SI Sanowar Hossain submitted charge sheet on September 15, 2006.
Schoolteacher suspended over ‘sexual harassment’
UNB, Natore

A teacher of BIAM Laboratory School in Singra upazila here was suspended on Thursday evening on charges of sexually harassing several female students of the school.
The accused Fazlul Rahman is a mathematics teacher of the school.
Singra Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sushanta Kumar Mahato said a total 13 students and 11 parents submitted written complaints against the teacher on April 11 for sexually harassing them.
Later, a three-member probe committee, formed by the upazila administration, found involvement of the teacher, he said. Based on the probe report, the school management committee has decided to suspend the teacher.
Father, daughter among 3 killed in Dinajpur road crash
BSS, Dinajpur

Three people including father and daughter were killed as a passenger bus collided head on with an auto-rickshaw at Chuniapara of Sadar upazila on Dinajpur-Fulbari highway here today.
The deceased were identified as Ashraful Alom, 32, his 10 years old daughter Ivy and Sajder Kholifa, 48.
Ashraful came from Jamalpur village under Bagatipara Upazila in Natore district while Sajder Kholifa was not known immediately. Two passengers of auto-bike were injured in the accident, Officer- in-Charge of Sadar Thana Redwanur Rahim said adding that the driver fled the scene soon after the accident with the bus.
