Dhaka Premier League saw two brilliant centuries in Thursday’s three matches where Abahani Limited, Sheikh Jamal and Prime Bank had the last laugh. Apart from Abahani’s 236, other two matches ended up in a low scoring drama. Abahani vs Brothers After putting Abahani to bat first, Brothers took early wickets but Saifuddin and Mosaddek’s resilient batting in the middle order put them in a comfortable position. Saifuddin blasted  a rapid unbeaten 59 took the reigning champions to an impressive tally of 236 runs. He blasted four boundaries and two over boundaries from 45 balls to help the team from an early collapse. Saifuddin pairing with skipper Mosaddek added 51 runs in the sixth wicket. Mosaddek spared 95 balls to score his valuable 54 that featured with five shots across the ropes. In fact Saiffudin and Mosaddek’s twin half centuries steered Abahani to maintain all win record in three matches.

Later, Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza made his debut in the current league. He took just 15 balls to smack a quick 26 not out. Mashrafe partnering with Saifuddin added a further 62 in an unbroken seventh wicket stand.

Mehedi Hasan and Naeem Islam took two wickets each for Brothers.

However, Brothers did not make a perfect start either due to Mashrafe’s calculative bowling. But Yasir Ali fought all the way through with the lower order and made an unbeaten 106 to keep the match alive till the end. Mashrafe in his first appearance in the DPL 2019 took a couple of wickets for 39.

Shinepukur vs Sheikh Jamal

Shinepukur put Sheikh Jamal to bat first at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah. Sheikh Jamal managed to pull up only 106 runs before being all out. Ziaur Rahman got the match of the match award for his 41 and which played a pivotal role to bring first win for Sheikh Jamal after losing two successive matches..

Shoriful Islam and Sabbir Hossain sliced through Sheikh Jamal innings with 3 and 4 wickets respectively.

While chasing, Shinepukur made a lesser batting performance with bat than the opponents after getting out for only 94 runs.

Prime Bank vs Legends

And away at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan No 3 Ground, Savar Prime Bank  invited Legends of Rupganj to bat first and it paid dividend for them as they bowled out Rupganj for 163 runs where opener Mohammad Naim scored the only half century of the innings. Jaker Ali made a contribution of 47 runs in the tail.

In the chase, opener Anamul Haque played a blinder of 100 runs not out from 111 balls and Rubel Mia also assisted him well with 44 runs. Openers duo Anamul Haque Rubel Mia put on 126 runs in the first wicket and eventually Prime Bank overhauled the target (166/1) in 31.3 overs.

Anamul, who clouted 11 fours and two sixes, was awarded man of the match.
