38th Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan concludes today

The three-day Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan, organised by Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad, will conclude today on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

Earlier on Friday morning, noted educationist and litterateur Professor Muhammed Zafar Iqbal inaugurated the 38th edition of the yearly conference. Presided over by Sanjida Khatun, general secretary of the organisation Bulbul Islam delivered welcome speech at the programme. Along with the members of Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad, Muhammed Zafar Iqbal lit candles to mark the opening of the event. At this time, artistes performed a group dance with the chorus rendition ‘Aguner Parashmoni Chhoyay Prane’.

After the inauguration, a musical programme titled ‘Biswa Bhora Pran’ took place. Laisa Ahmed Lisa directed the music and Sharmila Bandyopadhyay directed the dance in this segment.

In the afternoon, cultural personality Asaduzzaman Noor delivered speech at a session titled ‘Robi Rosshni’. Hasan Arif and Dalia Ahmed recited poems at the event. The singers of the Mymensingh and Sylhet districts rendered group songs, while Bhabna dance troupe performed group dance. This session also included solo rendition of Tagore songs and songs of three poets.

Yesterday, on the second day of the event, a seminar titled ‘Sajib Murti’ on Tagore songs held at 5pm. Presided over by Sanjida Khatun, Asim Dutt presented an essay, while ABM Nurul Anwar and Laisa Ahmed Lisa discussed the essay. A cultural programme was held in the evening.

Today, Language Movement veteran Ahmad Rafique will be present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the three-day Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan. Besides, aged folk singer Sushma Das from Sylhet will be awarded with Rabinda Padak on the concluding day.

This year’s Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan is supported by BSA, Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Bengal Group.
