The day second of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) witnessed the low-scoring total in all the three matches at three different venues in Dhaka and its adjoining areas yesterday as no team put on 200 or more on board.

Mohammedan Sporting Club scored 183-7 in response to Gazi Group Cricketers’ 182 at BKSP, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club mustered 176-1 in reply to Shinepukur Cricket Club’s 175 at Fatuallah while Prime Bank Cricket Club garnered 196-8 in pursuit of Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity’s 195 in Mirpur.

Shafiul Islam’s List-A best five-for was complemented by Roqibul Hasan’s jaw-dropping unbeaten 82 as Mohammedan Sporting Club routed Gazi Group Cricketers by three wickets in the low-scoring affair of the DPL at the BKSP Ground-3.

MSC vs Gazi Group

Put in to bat, Gazi Group Cricketers managed to score 182 thanks to Touhid Tareq’s 56 and Shamsul Islam’s unbeaten 71.

As soon as Gazi started their proceedings they slumped to 26-6 inside nine overs from where Shamsul Islam rescued the team. He forged an invaluable 101 with Touhid Tareq for the seventh-wicket and another 51 with Abu Haider Rony for the eight-wicket partnership en route to his indefatigable 71.

MSC fast-bowler Shafiul Islam was the wrecker-in-chief, who claimed five wickets that was first in his List-A career and later was named for the player of the match award.

Mohammedan Sporting Club overcame two mini-debacle to overhaul the below par target. They mislaid two-wickets each on 25 and 48 respectively. Rokibul led the team and fought single-handedly to sail through home.

Captain Roqibul Hasan clouted an unbeaten 82 off 124, laced with half-a-dozen fours and a six.

Doleshwar vs Shinepukur

Shinepukur Cricket Club put on 175 after being put in to bat. Delwar Hossain made the highest not out 40. Towhid Hridoy (33), Sabbir Hossain (31), Dhiman Ghosh (24) were the other contributors to Shinepukur’s paltry total.

Medium fast-bowler Forhad Reza took three wickets, while spinner Arafat Sunny bagged two wickets for Doleshwar.

Chasing the measly target, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club faced no difficulty to reach at their winning shore as they lost only Shykat Ali, who made 23 before being trapped lbw by Suhrawardi Shuvo.

Together with Forhad Hossain, young opener Saif Hassan slotted home with no fuss. Saif thrashed five boundaries and two sixes in his unbeaten 132-ball 83. Forhad was at stumps on 66 not out.

Prime Bank vs Khelaghar

Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity put up 195 on board in the face of devastation from Ariful Haque and Alok Kapali. The pair shared seven spoils between them. Ariful scalped four wickets while Kapali hauled three wickets.

Amit Majumder top-scored for Khelaghar with 36. Ashok Menaria made the second best of 35.

Prime Bnk Cricket Club, in reply, had to play 47 overs to snatch their victory, where Ariful Haque led with Abdur Razzak. Ariful struck 32 not out with Razzak scoring one.

Rubel Mia made 46-the highest of their innings. Anamul Haque (37) and Nahidul Islam (31) were the other mentionable scorers of the team.
