In Bongol Toli, the victim was identified as Chikkodhan Chakma, 45, an upazila coordinator of UPDF. According to police and witnesses, unknown miscreants shot Bikash near BT school while he was going to the market riding on a motorcycle around 11:00am leaving him dead on the spot.

Muhammad MA Monzurul Alam, officer-in-charge of Baghaichhari Police Station, said a team of police and army was going to the spot to retrieve the body.

Tensed situation was prevailing in and around the area and additional members of the joint forces have been deployed.

Meanwhile, members of the armed forces recovered huge firearms after busting a terrorist den at a remote hilly forest of the upazila. On information, a team of armed forces conducted a drive at Kachalang Reserve Forest, around 50-kilometers away from the Sadar.
