Football team in Cambodia

Sports Reporter, Dhaka

Sohel Rana replaced Emon Mohammed Babu at the last moment in the national team shortly before its  departure for Phnom Penh on Wednesday evening to play  a FIFA Friendly match with Cambodia tomorrow. Meanwhile, Emon Babu was one of the members of the 23-man Bangladesh national team squad, which was announced by the head coach Jamie Day on Tuesday, the day before of the team’s leaving for Phnom Penh for their FIFA Friendly match against hosts Cambodia.

But due to physical illness Emon Babu was excluded from the team and Sohel Rana was included instead of Babu before  flying to Cambodia.

It was learned from team sources that Emon Babu, midfielder of Bashundhara Kings in fact has been suffering from a pain in his stomach for last few days. Babu feels the pain after working hard, as the coach of Bashundhara Kings Oscar Bruzon was forced to drop him (Babu) in the last few matches of the league.

But after the important match against Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, Babu again felt the pain severely and few hours before the team’s departure for Cambodia, from his club it was requested to leave him out from the national squad.

However, the Bangladesh national team reached Phnom Penh International Airport on Wednesday safely at 7:30pm (Bangladesh time) and the team also reached  their hotel after two hours drive from airport.
