DL DESK, Dhaka
3-day cultural event at Hatirjheel amphitheatre

A three-day cultural programme titled ‘Mahanagar Sangskritik Utsab’ (Metropolitan Cultural Festival), organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), will begin today at the eye-catching amphitheatre in the capital’s Hatirjheel.

Featuring acrobatic show, music, dance, instrumental music, theatrical show, Jatra, palagaan, puppet show and band show, the programme will be held every day from 4pm to 9pm.

Besides, on the occasion of historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, theatre troupe Loko Natyadal (Siddheshwari) will stage its special production ‘Mujib Mane Mukti’ at the same venue today.

Planned, scripted and directed by Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky, the production portrays the simple childhood of Bangabandhu with background music. As the story progresses, Bangabandhu is seen growing up through different events. Rooted in history, the story of the play depicts the versatile life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. From his boyhood to his tragic death, the play unfolds the major episodes of his life.

The BSA’s cultural event will end on March 9.
