AB de Villiers’ presence in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for the first time created quite a hype that also spread into the Bangladeshi cricketers. The local players however had no hesitation to take tips from the modern great and amongst them opener Tamim Iqbal and top order batsman Mominul Haque grabbed the most of the opportunities.

The former South Africa captain, who is also known as ‘Mr 360’ for his ability to play unorthodox shots at will around all corner of the park is recently playing for Rangpur Riders in the ongoing BPL.

Tamim Iqbal went to AB and asked for various tips regarding techniques and other aspects of his batting during the campaign.  AB praised Tamim’s various shots and footwork and suggested him not to show his nervousness during the batting.

AB said to Tamim, “Try to control your tension and nervousness on the wicket. Don’t show your weakness to the bowlers and confidently select your shots.”

Bangladesh’s another batsmen, Mominul Haque also talked with the Proteas batting legend. Mominul wants to improve his batting performance in overseas. The left-handed batsman said, “I want to improve my batting performance in overseas ground. I asked him [AB de Villiers] for some tips. He suggested me to retain the one-mindset at home and abroad.”

The skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza believes that these two sessions will help the batsmen and will enhance their skills.

“It’s batsmen’s duty to take the most out of him as they will not get him beside them every day. It’s good to see that our players didn’t have any hesitation and they went to AB for his valuable tips,” Mashrafe said.

The Bangladesh will visit New Zealand for a full bilateral series, that is also seen as their preparation campaign for the ICC Cricket World Cup. They will play three one-day internationals against the Black Caps starting on February 13. The visitors specially the batsmen may face hostile condition in New Zealand.
