Remembering ‘Nayak Raj’ on birthday

On the occasion of the 78th birth anniversary of ‘Nayak Raj’-famed legendary film actor Razzak, a biographical documentary titled ‘Rajadheeraj Razzak’ (The King Protagonist), the life and work of Razzak made by Independence Award winning noted media personality Shykh Seraj is going to be aired on Channel i today at 5:20pm.

Produced by Impress Telefilm Ltd., the 90-minute biographical documentary contains exclusive interviews of Razzaq, unseen photographs of the Nayak Raj and interviews of his friends, colleagues and family members. Besides, veteran film artistes Suchonda, Kabori, Babita and many other silver screen celebrities shared their precious and publicly-unknown memory with the legendary hero. Moreover, Shykh Seraj also visited Razzaq’s birthplace in West Bengal, India and gathered rare information on Razzaq and interviewed people who used to know him in his childhood.

Razzak’s first big break in cinema came with his role in Zahir Raihan’s ‘Behula’ (1966). Subsequently, he went on to make more than 300 appearances in Bengali and Urdu movies.

Razzak’s major breakthrough in movies was his performance in Salahuddin’s ‘Tero Nombor Feku Ostagar Lane’. He acted in other notable movies like ‘Neel Akasher Nichey’, ‘Maynamati’, ‘Moner Moto Bou’, ‘Swaralipi’, ‘Osru Diye Likha’, ‘Jibon Theke Neya’, ‘Obujh Mon’, ‘Etotuku Asha’, ‘Bashori, Nacher Putul’, ‘Pichdhala Path’, ‘Abirbhab’, ‘Taka Ana Pai’, ‘Rongbaj’, ‘Alor Michhil’, ‘Chandranath’, ‘Shubhoda’, ‘Rajlokkhi Shrikanto’, ‘Je Agune Puri’, ‘Dwip Neva Nai’, ‘Ashikkhit’,  ‘Chutir Ghanta’ and others.

Razzak also was a Bangladeshi film director, who  made his directorial debut with the film ‘Ononto Prem’ in 1977. He directed around sixteen movies.

He won the National Film award as Best Actor for the film ‘Ki Je Kori’ (1976), ‘Oshikkhito’ (1978), ‘Boro Bhalo Lok Chilo’ (1982), ‘Chandranath’ (1984), ‘Jogajog’ (1988).  The Independence Award-winning actor Razzak passed away at the age of 75 on August 21, 2017.
