Samir Dutta’s solo art exhibition underway at Kalakendra

A three-week solo art exhibition ‘Unbounded’ (Drawing and Thinking, Thinking and Drawing-5) by artist Samir Dutta is underway at the Kalakendra in the capital’s Mohamadpur area. This is the fifth edition of the Kala Kendra’s exhibition series, ‘Drawing and Thinking, Thinking and Drawing’.

Eminent dramatist Nasiruddin Yousuf Bachchu and celebrated artist Dhali Al Mamoon inaugurated the exhibition on January 11 on the gallery premises. Noted artist Wakilur Rahman is the curator of the exhibition.  

Artist Samir Dutta completed his BFA at the College of Arts & Crafts, Dhaka, Bangladesh and MFA at MSU, Baroda, India. He has received Senior Fellowship in 2013 by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India for his research on ‘Patachitra’. He was also appointed as the Studio Artist from 2014 to 2019 at the Lalit Kala Akademi, Kolkata Regional Centre, Kolkata, India. Samir’s first solo exhibition was held in 1985 at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata, India. Besides, he has participated in six group exhibitions from 1981 to 2017.    

Samir Dutta’s solo art exhibition remains open to all every day from 5pm to 8pm, until January 30.
