Gas connection demanded in Dinajpur

STAFF REPORTER, Dhaka

Political, cultural and media personalities yesterday demanded gas connection to the northern district Dinajpur and urged government to take immediate steps to set up an economic zone in the area.

The demands came from a human chain in front of Dinajpur Press Club organised jointly by Dinajpur Sangbadik Samity, Dhaka and Dinajpur Press Club.

The speakers said Dinajpur known as the food grains of the country is still neglected in setting up heavy industries despite having immense opportunities in agro-industries.  They said the government has taken plan to expand gas connection from Bogura to Saidpur of Nilphamari via Rangpur.

They said the gas connection is imperative for attracting the investors in the area to set up industries for economic development.

Among others, executive member of Dinajpur Sangbadik Samity, Dhaka Humayun Chisti, president of Dinajpur Press Club Swarup Bakshi Bachhu, general secretary Golam Nabi Dulal, Workers Party leader Syed Mossadek Hossain Labu, general secretary of Communist Party of Bangladesh Badiuzzaman Badol, were present.
