Over 95,000 JSC, JDC examinees seek re-scrutiny of results

Over 95,000 examinees of the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and equivalent examinations under nine education boards have challenged their results and applied for re-scrutiny. Sources in the education boards said examinees dissatisfied with the results published in December 2018, challenged them, especially the mathematics, English and science papers. Sources said several thousand students had obtained 78 or 79 in mathematics, science and English.

Among the applicants, the 36,000 examinees under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, were on top of the list. A total of 36,216 students under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka challenged their papers and applied online from December 25 to January 2 for re-scrutiny.

The number of applications for the English paper review is 15,654, mathematics 12,331 and science 10,502.

Under Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Jessore, a total of 7,120 students have applied for re-scrutiny. The total number of applications was 10,563. Among the applications, 3,659 were for mathematics, 2,750 were for English and 2,320 for Bangladesh O Bishwaporichoy.

Under Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Chattogram, a total of 8,408 students submitted 12,408 applications. Among the applications, 3,630 were for a re-scrutiny of the mathematics paper, 2,550 for English and 2,120 for science. Some 9,853 students under the Board of Intermediate

and Secondary Education, Cumilla, submitted a total of 12,853 applications for the re-scrutiny JSC examination results.

Board sources said among the applications, 1,970 were for Bangla, 2,904 were for the scrutiny of the English paper, 2,335 for mathematics, 1,486 for science and 2,560 for Bangladesh O Bishwaporichoy. Under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Barishal, 3,501 students submitted 3,465 applications for Bangla, Science and mathematics scrutiny.

Under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Sylhet, a total of 6,750 students have applied. Over 4,500 applications were for a relook at the mathematics and English papers.

Under Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Rajshahi, 7,943 students applied for re-scrutiny. Among the applications, 2,837 were for the mathematics paper, 1135 for Bangladesh O Biswaporichoy and 1016 for general science.

Under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dinajpur, 6,271 students submitted 10,423 applications.

 Among them, 3,073 were for the English paper scrutiny, 2,312 for general science and 1,796 for mathematics.

Under the Madrasha Board, 8,870 students applied for scrutiny of several subjects, especially mathematics and Arabic.

Controller of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, Tapan Kumar Sarker told The Independent that the examinees who could not get GPA-5 or failed in one or two subjects had applied for re-scrutiny. He, however, said the number of applicants for re-scrutiny under the Dhaka education board was lower this time compared to last year. He said the results of the re-scrutiny would be published on January 24.
