Bodi urges yaba traders to surrender by Wednesday

“If the enlisted yaba traders do not surrender within five days, they will face terrible consequences”
UNB, Cox's Bazar

Controversial former MP of ruling  Awami League, Abdur Rahman Bodi, on Friday asked yaba traders of Teknaf and Ukhia upazilas to surrender within five days.

"If the enlisted yaba traders do not surrender within five days, they will face terrible consequences," he said.

Bodi, who was not chosen by the AL for the constituency considering the criticism for his alleged involvement in smuggling of yaba pills from Myanmar, said this while exchanging views with the locals at his residence in Lama Bazar in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar in the evening.

His wife Shahin Akhter, who was elected MP from Cox's Bazar-4 constituency on 30 December election, was sitting beside him that time.

"Those who are involved in yaba trading must communicate with me and I will help them surrender," he said. "We, people of Teknaf, will prove that we are free from the deadly impact of yaba tablets".

With Bodi sitting beside her, Shahin said "The yaba traders have to leave the country if they do not surrender."

"The war against drugs will continue," she added.
