11 candidates of Barishal will bear expenses from own funds

Only 11 out of 38 candidates contesting from six constituencies of Barishal district have said in their halofnama (self-declaration) that they will bear their electoral expenses from own sources of income, like business, teaching, savings. The other 27 will take loans, donations and use funds gifted by others.

 The eleven candidates are Sharfuddin Ahmed Santu, BNP candidate for the Barishal-2 constituency, Jainul Abedin of the BNP, Golam Kibria Tipu of JaPa, Enayet Kabir of Bikalpo Dhara, Atikur Rahman, independent candidate for Barishal-3, Pankaj Nath of the AL, Saifullah, independent candidate for Barishal-4, Mojibor Rahman Sarwar, BNP candidate for Barishal-5, Nurul Islam of IAB, Md Mohsin of JSD Ambia and Muhammad Ali Talukdar, independent candidate for the Barishal-6 constituency.

 The main candidates among the 27 are Abul Hasnat Abdullah, AL candidate for Barishal-1. He will spend Tk. 25 lakh -- Tk.10 lakh from his own income and Tk.15 lakh would be taken from his three sons.

Zahiruddin Swapan, BNP candidate for Barishal-1, will bear election expenses of Tk. 2.5 lakh from his own income, Tk. 6.5 lakh as loan from his brother and Tk.16 lakh from his wife. Other two candidates of this constituency will manage their election expenditure with donation, gifts and own savings.

In the Barishal-2 constituency, the AL-nominted candidate, Shahe Alam, will take Tk. 20 lakh from his business and Tk. 5 lakh as loan from a cousin.

In Barishal-3, Mohajote candidate Workers' Party-nominated Tipu Sultan will take Tk.5 lakh from own fund, Tk.4 lakh as loan from relatives, Tk. 1 lakh as grant from party fund.

BNP candidate Nurur Rahman for Barishal-4 will manage Tk. 13 lakh from own business and Tk 9 lakh as loans from relatives and well-wishers. Zahid Faruk, AL-nominated candidate for Barishal-5, will manage Tk. 10 lakh from own funds, Tk. 10 lakh as loans from family members, Tk. 5 lakhs as donations from well-wishers.

IAB candidate Syed Foyzul Karim for this constituency will bear election expenditure of Tk. 5.5 lakh by collecting donations, Abul Hossain Khan, BNP-nominated candidate for Barishal-6, will take Tk.15 lakh from own funds and Tk. 10 lakh as donations. Ratna Amin, JaPa-nominated Mohajote candidate for this constituency will manage Tk.19 lakh from own funds and Tk.6 lakh as loan from her brothers .
