RU admission test from today

RAJSHAHI: A two-day admission test for the first year honours courses in 2018-19 academic session of Rajshahi University (RU) begins today. A total of 88,543 students will appear in the entry test under five units, which are – A unit (Arts and Fine arts faculty), B unit (Business Studies and Business Administration Institute), C unit (comprises of Science and Engineering Faculties), D unit (Life and Earth Science Faculties) and E unit (Law and Social Science Faculties and Education and Research  Institute). The candidates will have to sit for 100 marks MCQ test with one hour duration. This year, a total of 4,173 qualified students will get chance for admission in 59 departments and two institutions. RU Pro-Vice-chancellor Prof Ananda Kumar Shaha told the news agency  that all sorts of necessary preparations for holding the test were completed. He said results of the two-day admission tests will be published by November 15 and admission process will start from November 25. Classes of the newly admitted students will start from January 21 next year, Prof Shaha added. Detailed information for admission test will be available on www.ru.ac.bd website. Detailing the preparation of the entry test, he said there is no scope of question leakage. “All we university teachers irrespective of party and opinion affiliation are working together relentlessly to make the test a total success,” the Pro-VC added. Prof Ananda Shaha said the application process has been completed through checking and crosschecking. So, there is no chance of any forgery through proxy.

Modern technology will be used for preventing forgery.

Above all, stern action will be taken against those found to be guilty in any stage of the process. He also said the law enforcing agencies were requested to extend their cooperation to complete the process peacefully and successfully.

IU classes resume today

KUSHTIA: The classes and examinations of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia will resume today after the five-day Durga puja vacation. IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif said the administrative activities of the university will also resume on the day. The university went on puja vacation on October 17.

RUET admission test held

RAJSHAHI: Admission test for the first year BSc Engineering courses in Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) under its 2018-19 academic session was be held yesterday. Among the applicants, a total of 8,884 students were scrutinised for the entry test on basis of their results obtained in SSC and HSC examinations, said RUET officials.

They said about 85 percent of those took part in today’s test in two groups.

The admission test was held for 1,235 seats in 14 departments of the university this year. Result of the test will be published on October 31 on the university website <www.ruet.ac.bd> and its office notice board.  Detailed information about admission test will also be available on www.ruet.ac.bd. RUET Vice-chancellor Prof Rafiqul Islam Sheikh thanked all concerned for holding the test successfully.
