Dengue awareness road show begins

BSS

A five-day road show involving ‘Baul’ and ‘Jari’ songs began yesterday in Dhaka North City Corporation areas to raise awareness about the prevention of two mosquito-borne diseases – dengue and chikungunya, reports BSS.  Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC)  panel mayor Aleya Sarwar Daisy inaugurated the road show at Karwan Bazar at 9 am, said a press release. Speaking on the occasion, Daisy said DNCC has taken all-out measures to control mosquito and mosquito-borne diseases.

Side by side the mainstream mass media and social media, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC)   is using folk songs as a medium to raise awareness about prevention of dengue and chikungunya, she added.

“In the road show programme, we are distributing leaflets and chanting slogans along with folk songs to raise awareness about the prevention of dengue and chikungunya,” the panel mayor said.
