UNB

A Dhaka court yesterday accepted charge sheet against six people in a case over the death of two college students in a road accident on Airport Road on July 29, reports UNB. Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Kaisarul Islam accepted the charge sheet. The accused are Shahadat Hossain, owner of 'Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan' bus, its driver Masum Billah, his assistant Enayet Hossain, owner of another 'Jabal-e-Noor' bus Jahangir Alam, its driver Zobair Sumon and his assistant Asad.

Among them, Asad and Jahangir Alam remain absconding. The court also issued an arrest warrant against two absconding accused. The court also directed Cantonment Police Station to submit a report by October 1 about the arrest warrant. On September 6, police pressed charges in the case.

Earlier on July 29, Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib, first year students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College, were killed as a bus ploughed through some students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital on Airport Road in the capital. The accident triggered a widespread protest by students, demanding safe roads and seeking justice for their fellows.
