Family seeks PM help to find missing lawyer

Sania Akbor, wife of Advocate Showkat Akbor, who remains missing since September 7 after allegedly being picked up by unidentified men, yesterday sought support from the government to find her husband and ensure his safe return. At a press briefing yesterday at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), Sania urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to assist her to find her husband, who went missing after going for Jum’a prayer on Friday.

“My husband Showkat Akbor is a lawyer by profession. He is a member of Dhaka Ainjibi Samity. He did not involve in politics. He went out for Jum’a prayer. But, he did not return home after the prayer as some unidentified men picked him up,” Sania said. “I urge the government to help me and my family members by find and bring back my husband to his family members,” Sania added.

Talking to The Independent, Kaikobad Akbor, brother of missing Showkat Akbor, yesterday said a general dairy (GD number 542) was filed with the Pallabi Police Station after Showkat went missing. An application has also been filed with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 4 in Mirpur and the Detective Branch of police has been informed about the incident, he added.
