Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary yesterday asked the new police officers to work for public safety rising above greed and nepotism, reports UNB. The IGP asked them to serve the country and work for the welfare of the people facing all hindrances. Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary was addressing the closing ceremony of a 5-day orientation course of the newly appointed Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) of the 36th BCS (Police) cadre in the conference room of the Police Headquarters.
He said protection of people's lives and property, controlling the crime and detection of the unlawful act is one of the main responsibilities of police. He directed the new ASPs to perform their duties with professionalism. At the beginning of his speech, the IGP paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman saying that Bangabandhu liberated the country with the aim of creating 'Sonar Bangla'.
He said that during the training period policemen have to prepare them as worthy officers with devotion and sincerity.
Among others, Additional IGPs Mokhlesur Rahman, Md Mainur Rahman Chowdhury and Mohammad Mohsin Hossain were present.
A total of 118 ASPs including 17 female officers
joined the Bangladesh Police under the 36th BCS (Police) Batch.
