Madrasah boy ‘beaten to death’

A madrasah student was allegedly beaten to death at Nahadatul Ummah Hafezi Madrasah in Naya Bazar area of Halishahar of the port city yesterday. The deceased was identified as Shahriar Alam, 14, son of Shahin Alam, a resident of Enayet Bazar of Chattogram and a student of the madrasah who resided in the madrasah's hostel. Shahriar’s mother Sharmin Akhter said, “At around 11:30 pm a teacher of the madrasah informed me that her son is ill. Later, we rushed to the madrasah and noticed several injury marks on his body.
