UNB

Bagerhat: A show-cause notice has been served upon a doctor of BagerhatSadar Hospital for allegedly assaulting two patients and a guardian, reports UNB.

The accused doctor is AbulKalam Azad, a senior consultant of Gynae Department of the hospital.

A pregnant woman, Rozina Begum, 20, wife of Alam Sheikh of Hamchapur village in Morelganjupazila, was brought to the hospital by her mother, Nasima Begum, early Sunday following her acute labour pain.

After admission to the hospital, Nasima Begum alleged, the doctor slapped her daughter for a trivial matter. At one stage, she said, the doctor asked them to leave the ward and he slapped her and her daughter as they took time in getting out of the ward.

Another expecting mother, Fatema Begum, who was admitted to the ward, alleged that Dr Azad slapped her, too.

According to sources at the hospital, Dr Azad always misbehaves with patients.

Jahidul Islam Jadu, member of district health management committee, said hearing screams of the patients, he rushed to the ward and came to know that Dr Azad assaulted two patients and a guardian.
