Abul Hasan to undergo surgery in Australia

Fast bowler Abul Hasan Raju will fly to Australia to undergo a surgery on his injured ankle today (Saturday). His operation is expected to take place on September 12.

The paceman acknowledged himself the matter of his surgery in Australia yesterday in front of the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Mirpur while he was going to perform Jummah prayer.

“I think I should undergo a surgical operation on my injured ankle what I discussed with our BCB physicians, who gave their opinions to perform a surgical operation,” said Abul Hasan Raju.

“I have decided to do the operation in Australia as I was earlier done an operation in Australia under veteran sports surgeon David Young,” Raju told The Independent.

Despite being got a stop-gap opportunity to play for the national team in place of injured Mustafizur Rahman in the last three-match Twenty20 short series against Afghanistan in Dehradun in Uttarakhand, as he said that he did not capitalise the chance because of his ankle.

The 26-year-old pacer, who grabbed the limelight by hitting an innings-reviving century for Bangladesh on his debut Test against the West Indies at Chattogram, said that he has set a target to play in the next Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

“I have a target to play the next BPL, which is four-month away. So, I got a four-five month gap for the operation,” Sylhet-born Abul Hasan said.

The right-handed fast bowler believes that he will be healed completely within this period of time. And so, he thought that it is high time for him to go under knife once again.
