Two ‘drug dealers’ killed in ‘gunfight’

Two suspected ‘drug dealers’ were killed in separate ‘gunfights’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) -7 members in Feni Sadar upazila early yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Sumon Prakas alias Lal Sumon, 32, son of Madhu Miah hailing from Kataltala village under the same upazila, and Kabir Hosain, 35, son of late Anower Hossain of Ichapur village in Shahrasthi upazila of Chadpur district .    

When contacted Shafayat Jamil, commanding officer of RAB -7 in Feni told the Independent that based on secret information a team of RAB conducted a drive early yesterday at Kabiraj Dighi.

Sensing the presence of RAB members, the gang opened fire to the law enforcers reiterating them to fire back that triggered the gunfight.  

sRAB arrested Sumon with bullet injuries and took him to Feni Sadar Hospital where doctors on duty declared him dead.

In another gunfight, a home ministry listed drug dealer Kabir Hosain was killed at Lemua while RAB recovered 180,000 pieces of yaba pills and a shutter gun with 7 rounds of bullets.

He was taken to the same hospital while doctors found him dead, told the Residential Medical Officer of the hospital.

Sadar police station OC said, 12 cases were filed with the police station against Kabir.
