BSS

A weeklong ‘Income Tax Fair’ will begin in the city and other divisional headquarters across the country on November 13 to help the taxpayers filing returns and doing other related tasks, reports BSS.

Like in the previous years, National Board of Revenue (NBR) will organize the fair that is scheduled to be continued till November 19.

The fair will also be held at all districts and 30 upazilas. The fair at district level will be of four days and at the upazila level the duration will be of two days while a daylong mobile fair also will be held at the Growth Centers at the upazila level.

The taxpayers will be able to file tax returns and do other related tasks in the fair.

Tax officials will help the taxpayers while they (taxpayers) will have to bring the required documents with them only.

Like in the previous year, the income tax fair also will be held this year too, coordinator of the fair and NBR Member (income tax administration) Ziauddin Mahmud said, adding that the new thing in this year’s fair will be that the taxpayers will be taught about tax by broadcasting audios and videos.

The taxpayers can also ask the tax officials about tax related quarries through tele- learning system, he said.

New taxpayers can collect the e-TIN (electronic tax identification number) in the fair

while the other taxpayers also can collect the e-TIN through re-registration, Ziauddin added.

In the fair, separate booths will be set up for e-payment and freedom fighters, women, people with disabilities and elderly taxpayers, he said.

Besides, the best taxpayers will be honored on November 12 in a gala function in the city. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to be present in the function.
