By taking these projects, the Awami League government has attained cent percent capacity to implement any big development project.

According to a recent report of the Ministry of Planning on the success of the last 10 years, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved these 2,135 projects from the FY09 to FY18.

After assuming office through a landslide victory in the 2008 general election, the AL-led grand alliance government held its first ECNEC meeting on January 13 in FY09 while the last ECNEC meeting in FY18 was held on June 26.

The report said the AL government after assuming office for the second successive term in 2014 has so far held some 140 ECNEC meetings and gave approval to some 1,172 projects involving an overall estimated cost of Tk 13,66,537 crore. Out of this overall amount, Tk 8,08,440 crore is coming from the government fund, Tk 37,710 crore from the organization’s own fund while the rest Tk 5,20,386 crore from project assistance.

The AL-led grand alliance government in its first term gave approval to projects worth Tk 4,49,830 crore.

The report said the present government has always given priority to the development of all communities alongside changing the fates of the marginal people and the lagging behind areas before undertaking any project to keep up the growth momentum.

“The goal of the Ministry of Planning for undertaking development projects is to ensure socio-economic development alongside alleviating poverty and reducing income disparity. The ministry is working tirelessly to materialize the dream that the Prime Minister has seen in the eyes of the common people,” the report said.
