Our Correspondent, Rajshahi

To bring discipline on road along with rover scout students, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) started their drive again from yesterday. The members of rover scout have seen to checking licences of the drivers and documents of the vehicles that were plying the different streets of the city.

They, however, are checking the registration papers and driving licenses of drivers for cars, micro and heavy vehicles and for motorcycles. They were also creating awareness among the riders for using helmets and safe driving. The rover scout students, however, took to the streets at Rail Gate intersection of the city since 10am for the drive, braving the heavy rains. Meanwhile, after hearing the news of the drive public transports like passenger buses, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, Leguna, Mahendra and three wheelers were seen very few on the road, presumably due to fear.

A mobile court by the Rajshahi District Administration has also been set up at Amm Chhatar intersection on Rajshahi-Noagoan highway.

Executive Magistrate of the mobile court Rahima Sultana Bushra, said that as a part of awareness programme as well as to prevent the road accident the mobile court is being conducted by the order of Deputy Commissioner, Rajshahi.

“In collaboration with police and rover scouts, we are checking the registration papers and driving licenses. Who do not have legal papers and licenses, cases are being filed against them”, Bushra said.
