fest in North Korea

National Film Award-winning actress Zakia Bari Mamo-starrer latest film ‘Alta Banu’ is going to participate at the 16th Pyongyang International Film Festival scheduled to be held from September 19 to 28 in Pyongyang, North Korea.

‘Alta Banu’ director Arun Chowdhury confirmed the news that the film will be screened on September 23 in the festival.

Arun Chowdhury said, “Earlier the film ‘Alta Banu’ was screened in two international film festivals. This is the third time that the film is going to be screened at an international film festival. I feel proud with the success of the film because this is my directorial debut venture.”

Mamo said over the telephone from Nepal, “‘Alta Banu’ is a beautiful film. The audience will travel with story from the beginning till the end. I can say that the story will touch the hearts of the audience. After releasing the films, I have received audience applause for it. I feel proud that the film is going to be screened at the ‘Pyongyang International Film Festival’.”

Mamo plays the titular role in the film. Based on a story by Faridur Reza Sagor, the screenplay is written by Brindaban Das and Arun Chowdhury. Giving up her glamorous avatar, Mamo appears in a new look opposite actor Anisur Rahman Milon in the film.  

The other important cast of ‘Alta Banu’ includes Kusum Sikdar, Dilara Zaman, Noresh Bhuiyan, Saberi Alam, Ahsanul Haq Minu, Mamunur Rashid, Shamima Nazneen, Raisul Islam Asad and others.
