Many happy returns to Sabina Yasmin

Today is the birthday of celebrated singer of the subcontinent Sabina Yasmin. She is a shining star in the sky of the country’s music world as well as the living legend is considered to be a valuable asset of the country.

Sabina Yasmin is all set to celebrate her birthday with a few dearest friends in Singapore today. Also, she has a plan to spend a few days there in her own way. The singer was scheduled to catch a flight for Singapore last night.

Sabina Yasmin said about her birthday, “I miss my father, mother and sisters a lot on my birthday. But even then, I try to forget my pain receiving love from everyone. Many from home and abroad wish me. It is amazing to think that my birthday this time would be spent wonderfully with by friends Milia, bubbly, Rita and others. Everyone please pray for me.”

Sabina Yasmin as a child artiste sang for the first time in Ehtesham-directed film ‘Natun Sur’ in 1962. Late legendary composer and music director Robin Ghosh directed the music of the film. On the other hand, she made her playback debut with the song ‘Modhu Jyotsna Dipali’ in the film ‘Agun Niye Khela’, directed by Amzad Hossain and Nurul Haque Bacchu, in 1967.

Including Ekushey Award in 1984 and Independence Award in 1996, legendary Sabina Yasmin won the National Film Award 13 times till now. She won her first National Film Award for the film ‘Sujon Sokhi’ directed by Khan Ataur Rahman in 1975. Then at different times, she was bestowed with the prestigious National Film Award for the films Amzad Hossain’s ‘Golapi Ekhon Train-e’, ‘Sundori’, Chashi Nazrul Islam’s ‘Chandranath’, Moinul Hossain’s ‘Premik’, Bulbul Ahmed’s ‘Rajlokkhi Srikanto’, Amzad Hossain’s ‘Dui Jibon’, Kazi Hayat’s ‘Danga’, Matin Rahman’s ‘Radha Krishna’, Mohammad Hossain’s ‘Aj Gaye Halud’ and Chashi Nazrul Islam’s ‘Devdas’.

In her long music career, Sabina Yasmin has sung over 16000 songs.
