6 months ban on the cards for Sabbir

Sports Reporter

While Mosaddek Hossain Saikat and Nasir Hossai are likely to get away with the punishment, Sabbir Rahman’s fate looks bleak as the trio will turn up to the disciplinary committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today for a hearing on their disciplinary issues.

A day ago the board president Nazmul Hassan Papon hinted that his board decided to take sterner action this time against cricketers who have been reported on disciplinary issue but realistically the board could take action against Sabbir only at the moment.

Nasir has been out cricket for the time being for his knee injury while Mosaddek’s matter is being looked after by the court. Mosaddek Hossain's wife lodging a complaint against her husband for divorce due to alleged dowry trouble and therefore the board would wait for the verdict of the court. If he could prove him innocent, the matter will be solved but he is proved guilty, the board would not spare him, said board director Jalal Younus, the member of the disciplinary committee, headed by another board director Sheikh Sohel.

According to Younus, since Nasir has been out of cricket, the punishment, if given, would not affect him and that’s why the board would wait for him to return the cricket or could impose financial sanction.

He however didn’t confirm how harsh punishment would be imposed on Sabbir but it is highly likely that he would be suspended for a certain period.
