Barapukuria to resume partial operation

UNB

A unit of Barapukuria coal-fired power plant, which was shut down for disappearance of huge volume of coal, will resume its operation for five days from today to meet the demands of electricity during the Eid-ul-Azha, reports UNB from Dinajpur. Manager and executive engineer of power plant, Mahbubur Rahman said currently a total of 5000/ 6000 metric tons of coal was in reserve from which 70 to 80 megawatt electricity can be generated from Unit No. 2. With this, the problem of low voltage and load shedding will be reduced in the area, he said.
Barapukuria Coal-fired Thermal Power Plant was shut down on July 22, when a team from Power Development Board visited the coal mine and found that there was no adequate reserve of coal in the yard of the mine.
