Women’s cricket team first phase training ends

Sports Reporter

The first leg training camp of the Bangladesh women's cricket team ended at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground with a couple of 20-over practice matches yesterday. They will resume their second leg practice camp after the end of the Eid vacation on August 26. This time the camp might be held at either Rajshahi or Chattogram. Earlier, the preliminary squad, comprises 30 players with the blend of experienced and young talent, was slatted to travel to the port city after three to four days practice in Dhaka. But they didn't travel due to unavoidable circumstances at that time.

Barring head coach Anju Jain, all the foreign coaching staffs including assistant coach Devila Dilip Palshikaar, physio Anuja Dalvi and trainer Kabita Pandey were also present and supervised the team from their respective department.

Nazmul Abedin Fahim, the operating manager of Bangladesh women's cricket team, told about their overall preparation that the girls are in rhythm what they continue it in the World Cup also.

"You all know the recent performance and result were not an abrupt thing. Though the girl did not fare well in South Africa tour, they had showed their glimpses of talent in the fag end of the tour," said Nazmul Aberdeen Fahim.

“We have seen their right explosion in Asia Cup and ICC World T20 Qualifier along with in Ireland, who are not negligible one as they got Test status in 2000,” Fahim told media.

“We want to capitalise it in the next international assignments especially ICC Women's World T20 in the West Indies,” he added.

Bangladesh will play a series against Pakistan in October at home yard before flying to West Indies, whereby they will also a couple of practice matches against local teams beside the ICC-accredited warm-up games.
