Driving on ‘wrong lane’

Protestors block Tofail Ahmed’s car

Staff Reporter

The agitating students yesterday blocked the car of Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed at Bangla Motor which was allegedly driving on the wrong lane of the road.

They also blocked a police car which didn’t have proper papers.

One of the eyewitnesses said when the minister’s car took the wrong route, the agitated students halted it and surrounded the vehicle and chanted slogan "Law is equal for all".

At one stage of the protest, Tofail Ahmed's body guards got off the car and tried to talk with the demonstrators but they refused to move from there.

Tofail Ahmed also got off from his car and tried to pacify the students but failed to do. Later the body guard and police officials of the minister’s car made a U-turn towards Shabagh.

A video of this situation was posted on Facebook and it gone viral.

However, The Independent did not reach to get any comment from the minister.

The protest led by college students continued for the fourth consecutive days yesterday, choking the traffic at various points in the capital.
