Hurmoti coming to big screen

‘Sangsaptak’, once immensely popular drama serial written by Shahidullah Kaiser and directed by Abdullah Al Mamun, started airing on BTV for the first time in 1971. But just after only four episodes, the telecasting of the drama serial had gone off due to the Liberation War of Bangladesh.

Once again, after long 17 years, drama serial ‘Sangsaptak’ returned to BTV in 1988. But the drama serial had to stop telecasting again during the countrywide disastrous flood of 1988.  Then again, telecasting of ‘Sangsaptak’ resumed after the flood, and finally, the drama serial saw its long-awaited and successful conclusion.

Veteran actress Ferdousi Majumdar caught the attention of the viewers at a large scale for playing a unique character named Hurmoti in ‘Sangsaptak’. Now, after 30 years, the viewers would meet a character after the name of Hurmoti on the big screen. In this connection, actress-producer-director Shabnam Parvin is making a film titled ‘Hurmoti’. Moreover, Shabnam herself will play the titular character in the film. The shooting of the film is currently underway at different locations of the capital.

However, Hurmoti in Shabnam’s film has no similarity with the character from the audience-admired drama serial ‘Sangsaptak’, Shabnam informed. She said, “Name of Hurmoti is still in the mind of the viewers. I have been planning for a long time to work with this name. Though there’s no similarity between my Hurmoti and Hurmoti from ‘Sangsaptak’, Hurmoti in my film has a challenging life. As I had a dream surrounding Hurmoti, I myself am playing the role. I am trying my best to portray the character appropriately. I hope the film ‘Hurmoti’ as well as the character Hurmoti will be enjoyable to the viewers.”

DhakaLive has news that produced under the banner of Shabnam Production, the shooting of the film will likely to complete before upcoming Eid. The dialogue of the film is written by Monjur Rahman, while the main concept and story of the film have come from Shabnam Parvin. The film is expected to be released in the current year.

To note, Akash Acharya-directed ‘Mayabini’ and Hasibur Reza Kollol-directed ‘Satta’ were Shabnam’s last two released films.
