Binary University executive chairman meets DU VC

Executive Chairman of Malaysian Binary University of Management and Entrepreneurship Prof Joseph Adaikalam yesterday met Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman. Prof Asif, Dean of Binary Graduate School of the Malaysian University, and Prof Tahmina Akhtar of DU’s Institute of Social Welfare and Research were present on this occasion. During the meeting at the DU VC’s office, they discussed the possibilities of taking joint collaborative academic and research programmes on management, information technology and entrepreneurship by the University of Dhaka and the Binary University of Management and Entrepreneurship, Malaysia. They stressed producing skilled graduates for making Bangladesh a developed country. They also discussed the possibilities of establishment of ‘Asian Leadership Institute’ at DU with the financial support from Malaysia to develop leadership quality of graduates. They have agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard soon.

Scholastica holds graduation ceremony

The graduation ceremony of an English medium school Scholastica was held at the STM Hall of the school. The ceremony commenced on Tuesday and the concluding ceremony was held on Saturday. Chief guests of ceremonies were-- Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar, Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya distinguished fellow, Centre for Policy Dialogue and Vice-Chancellor of World University of Bangladesh, Dr Abdul Mannan Chowdhury. Wasima Perveen, Director & Chief Operating Officer Of Scholastica  and Taqbir Nurul Huda, Research Specialist, Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust and  also a Scholastica alum  graced the occasion as the special guest. The inaugural speech was delivered by Brig General (retd) Kaiser Ahmed, Principal, Senior Campus Uttara and Farah Sophia Ahmed, head of section of senior campus Mirpur.

This year 513 graduates were awarded certificates in different categories. A colorful cultural show was held on last day of the four-day programme.
