Mohammedan Sporting Club has sought government approval to build a 52-storey clubhouse at its Motijheel-based club complex. The 82-year old club,  which has been planning to construct the project for the past few years, has already taken the initial step by inviting companies from home and abroad to submit tenders for designing and building the towering club-house. Speaking to The Independent, one of the club’s policymakers said, “We have taken the first step to make our dream come true. We want to establish the 52-storey building to make the club self-sufficient in terms of funds so that we can run the club resourcefully.”

“We have been dreaming to make our club one of the best in Asia and planned to set up the project,” the policymaker said on condition of anonymity. “As you know, we have already taken the initiative by inviting a tender for the project and published the same in leading daily newspapers. We have invited national and international companies to submit their tenders of Procurement of Design and Building Constructor of Design, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning of three (3) Basements plus (fifty-two) storied Mixed-Use High-rise Building Project on Design and Build basis,” he added.

In the tender notice, the club has given a brief description of the work—Implementation of Three Basements plus 52 storied Mixed-Use High-Rise Building Project on Design and Build basis that shall consist of Rentable Commercial Space, Shopping Mall, five/four Star Hotel, Banquet Hall, Complex, Club house with auditorium and gym, prayer hall, parking zone and food court.

The club official said, “We have already received tremendous response from different companies, especially from China, Malaysia and Korea. Besides, representatives of Bangladesh-based companies have contacted us and visited the club.”

“But right now, the most important issue is to obtain the government permission and support for constructing such a big project. We expect to get the green signal from the

government very soon,” he added.
