Human chain held in Chandpur to save Dakatia
Locals form a human chain in Chandpur town yesterday urging the government to take effective steps to protect the Dakatia River from encroachment and pollution. INDEPENDENT PHOTO

Matin Foundation, a voluntary group, yesterday organised a human chain to save the Dakatia River from being grabbed illegally by influential and unscrupulous people.

The human chain was held at Molehead near the Dakatia River around 11 am.

The human chain was held with banners containing slogans ‘Remove corruption, save country’ and ‘Save environment, save people’. Teachers, school and college students, members of Matin Foundation and some professional people took part in the demonstration.

Chairman of Matin Foundation Md Mezbahuddin Kabir, advisor to the organisation Farkir Md Emran, Md Akteruzzaman, Humayun Kabir, Anisur Rahman Opu, Saiful Islam and Mamunur Rashid, among others, spoke on the occasion.
