President Abdul Hamid yesterday laid emphasis on acquiring the expertise of IT and strategic development including time befitting training to ensure the foolproof security in any circumstances, reports UNB.

The president said this while addressing the Darbar of President Guard Regiment (PGR) at Shahid Captain Hafiz Hall at the PGR Headquarters in Dhaka Cantonment on the occasion of its 43rd founding anniversary.

"You know, terrorism and militant activities have increased amid the changed global scenario. Terrorism is now not a problem for a single country, it's now a global problem. The types of terrorism and crime are being changed with the rapid expansion of the science and technology," the president said.

Emphasising on the necessity of the IT and strategic development, the head of the state added "You have to acquire the expertise of Information technology (IT) and strategic development including time befitting training to ensure the foolproof security in any circumstances to secure the very important persons of the state. The security system will be established in a coordinated, foolproof and all-out manner."

"There is no alternative to training in the military career as training makes one disciplined, help acquire the professional knowledge and increase skill and teach sympathy and obedience. So you have to take training regularly," he said.

The president said "The prime duty of PGR is to ensure the security of the very important persons of the state. In one hand, it is very important, on the other hand, it is sensitive too. Most of the persons for whom you ensure security are political personalities and closely connected with politics. So you have to consider of ensuring public engagement of the VVIPs with due importance."

“It will be your credit if you perform your duties ensuring the continuous public engagement alongside providing the highest security for the VVIPs as they carry out political activities apart from discharging state and government duties and maintain good terms with leaders and activists,” he said. Abdul Hamid also asked the PGR members to discharge their duties bestowed upon them remaining fully loyal to their chain-in-command and play the bold role in upholding the pride so far they have achieved.

Later, President Hamid signed the visitor's book and joined a photo session with PGR officials. Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed, commander of PGR Brigadier General Jahangir Harun, high military and civil officials were present on the occasion.
