UNB

Bagerhat: Quadruplets born prematurely to a mother in Bagerhat died shortly after their first bath at Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex in the district on Sunday night, reports UNB.

The mother though is understood to be in healthy condition. Locals said Kannan Rani Mazumdar, wife of Ashis Mazumdar of Khalishakhali village of the upazila. The couple have a son named Ankan, 9.

The mother learned she had conceived four sons from an ultrasonography on June 15, sources added. Their expected birth was still close to four months away.

But Kanan Rani came to the upazila health complex as early as Sunday, where she gave bath four babies boy at a time one after one. But all the babies died soon after birth, said Sajal Kanti Biswas, medical officer and gynecologist of the health complex.

The mother, however, came back home on Monday afternoon.
