JnU classes begin today

All classes and academics activities of the Jagannath University (JnU) will begin today after a month-long summer and Eid vacations.

The university Registrar Engineer Md Ohiduzzaman told that all classes and examinations would be held as per previous schedule. JnU classes were closed on June 1 while the academic and administrative offices were closed on June 10.

AIUB signs MoU with Murdoch University

Prof Dr Taslima Monsoor, adviser of department of law as well as the former Dean of faculty of Law, University of Dhaka has signed MOU on behalf of Department of Law, AIUB with School of Law, Murdoch University, recently, says a press release.

The MOU is expected to facilitate exchange programmes for both faculty members and students as well as academic and education cooperation between the institutions.

Dr Taslima also attended the 2018 Asia-Pacific Law School Leadership Forum hosted by School of Law, Murdoch University, Australia on June 6, organised by the International Association of Law Schools (IALS). In the Annual General Meeting and Deans Forum, Prof Dr Taslima Monsoor represented AIUB.

Confce on learning and teaching held at IUB

A day-long international conference on ‘New Dimensions in Learning and Teaching’ was held on Thursday on the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) campus in the capital.

The Centre for Pedagogy (CP) and the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at IUB jointly organised the conference.

Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh on Energy, Power and Mineral Resources attended the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest. In his speech Dr Elahi mentioned that, education is the main driving force of the nation for development. He also emphasized on the ethical elements of learning. Professor Suhaimi Abdul Talib, Honourary Professor, Faculty of Civil Engineering, UiTM, Malaysia, was the keynote speaker of the conference. He presented a paper on ‘Responding to the Fourth Industrial Revolution through Outcomes-Based Education ’.

A Matin Chowdhury, chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB, graced the inaugural ceremony as the special guest while Prof M Omar Rahman, Vice- chancellor, IUB, chaired the session. Dr Mahbub Alam, Sub-Project Manager, Pedagogical Development at Undergraduate and Master’s Level and Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, IUB, delivered the welcome speech.
