Election Commission (EC) started to remove all kinds of election-campaign related billboards, festoons, and banners of possible candidates of Barishal City Corporation Election (BCC) from yesterday morning. Habibur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Barishal said as per direction of Election Commission (EC), they started the remove billboards, festoons, banners.

Ten executive magistrates forming mobile courts led BCC the teams. The eviction drive started from Nazirpol, Sadar Road, Zilla School Road, Club Road, Rupatoli, Nathullabad, Morokhola Pol, Alekanda, Hospital Road of the city. Huge policemen were deployed during drive in all the spot.

District administration, however, held a coordination meeting at Circuit House on Wednesday night to operate the drives smoothly, the DC of Barishal said.

Mujibor Rahman, regional election officer and returning officer of BCC election, said that before distributing election symbols, candidates are not allowed to campaign for poll. July 10 would be the date of distributing symbols for BCC elections as per declared election schedule. EC, however, asked all aspirant candidates to remove all kinds of works.

 BSS adds from RAJSHAHI: All the election campaign related posters, banners and festoons in the city will be removed by today.

The decision was taken at a high level meeting relating to the forthcoming election of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) held at the office of Divisional Commissioner here today.

Chaired by Divisional Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman, the meeting was attended, among others, by Regional Election Officer Syed Aminul Islam, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Nisharul Arif, Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Sujayet Islam and Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi SM Abdul Kader and local office heads of RAB, BGB and DGFI.

The meeting decided that drives will be conducted against the open campaign by the possible candidates prior to the scheduled time according to the election schedule.

Led by Executive Magistrate from the district administration, RMP will conduct the drive in association with the RCC.

In the drives, poster, billboard, banner, gate and lighting which were arranged on behalf of the possible mayoral and councilor candidates will be removed.
