The Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the Muslims, was celebrated on Saturday in different metropolitan cities with due fervour, joy, enthusiasm, gaiety and solemnity. On Eid day morning, streams of people rushed to the nearest eidgahs, mosques and open spaces to offer their Eid prayers, braving the inclement weather.

During munajats after Eid congregations (jamaats), the Muslims also prayed for divine blessings to help strengthen national unity against all odds and destructive activities, including terrorism and militancy. Staff Reporter from Barisal adds: At least 162 Eid congregations were held in Barisal city on Saturday this year calling to root out corruption, to fight against drugs, terrorism and militants activities all over the country. Highest security ensure in all the Eid congregations area this year. The main Eid congregation, led by Mawlana Shehabuddin Beg, was held on Hemayet Uddin Eidgah Maidan at 8:30 am in Barisa city. BCC Mayor Ahsan Habib Kamal greeted the devotees attended at the Eid congregation.

On the other hand more than 45, 000 people of 12, 000 families observed Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday June 15 in accordance with Saudi Arabia.

In RAJSHAHI:  The main Eid congregation (jamaat) of Rajshahi divisional city was held at Shahmukhdum (R) Central Eidgah at 8am on Saturday.  State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, MP, Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, City Mayor Musaddeque Hossain Bulbul, former Mayor AHM KhairuzzamanLiton, senior divisional and district level officials offered their Eid prayers at the main Eid jamaat. Braving scorching heat and sultry weather thousands of people, especially children, poured in and around the city’s parks, historic places and other recreation centres including the bank of the river Padma to enjoy the Eid-ul-Fitr. Zia Shishu Park, Captain Monsur Ali Park and Central Park and Zoo drew huge crowd.

BSS adds from Chattogram: Eid prayers held in mosques and other outdoor locations across the port city and its adjacent districts.

Back from prayers amid rains, people visit friends, relatives, neighbors and specially the eldest members of the families.

A total of 259 Eid congregations including three big ones at MA Aziz Stadium and Jamiatul Falah Mosque were held in the port city under the auspices of Chattogram Central Eid Jamaat Committee (CCEJC) and Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) respectively.

The authority had taken adequate security measures by deploying RAB, Police and Ansars at various strategic points in the city to keep vigil on law and order situation during before and after Eid. Minister for Expatriates welfare Nurul Islam, BSC, City Mayor A Z M Nasir Uddin, acting President of Chittagong city Awami League Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, former Ministers Abdullah Al Noman offered Eid-ul-Fitr Namaz at Jamiatul Falah Mosque.

BSS adds from Khulna: The main Eid Congregation was held at Khulna Circuit House Maidan in the city at 8.30 am.  Law maker of Khulna-2 constituency Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Newly-elected KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque and KCC Mayor Moniruzzaman Mony, Cjoined the congregation.
